Just solved the problem! I just needed to configuring the MQTT broker properly. Wish I'd known earlier.
SystemAdmin: Honestly, I'd recommend Node-RED over Hubitat for reliability. Keep in mind the tradeoff.

YMMV, but what I've seen — WiFi was a mess with my setup.
